We were told to sculpt a nose which we will mold with plaster then fill that mold with foam latex, which then bakes in the oven.
I sculpt a strange nose, when I began I didn't really know where I was going with it but it looks like a nose and it is only a test run so we understand how to use foam latex so it didn't have to be perfect. The clay wall is so when the foam latex nose comes out, the edge (which will be the gap between the nose and the wall) will be wafer thin to blend on to the face.
Here is the foam nose, if you haven't been across foam latex before it has a very squishy feel and a smooth texture, it absolutely stinks of rotten eggs because of the chemicals in the latex, but we have left the noses in hot water and fairy liquid over the weekend which will help the smell. Hopefully we will get round the applying them and I can show you it on a final makeup, but sadly our schedule is so hectic we may not have time - which is a shame but we have so much to learn on our course we are just bombarded with techniques and work.
Check back to my blog, my next blog post will be about my actual main project which is called 'Living Portrait'
